You heard em, head to Cork lovers. Out of all days and weekends, I'm heading off to London and NY on the 28th of November. I mean, I know I'll get to go to their flagship Oxford Circus store & Soho store, but still. I'll be missing out on all the Topshop shenanigans, and the delicious O'Conaills. If anyone ever visits Cork, O'Conaills hot chocolate is a MUST. I would have loved to have done some blog coverage too. If anyone heads there this weekend, updates & reports would be much appreciated!

And happy thanksgiving yankees!

Apologies for the lack of posting on SOS!. It seems that everytime I write here nowadays, I apolpgise. This is disgraceful on my behalf, I do realise that.

But anyway, in the spirit of the upcoming holidays, let's just all forget about it. I wish I had an interesting list of what I've been up to lately like Fi. Well, let's give it a go anyway. We'll start with the bad news:

  • Cork has been affected by serious floods. This caused college and businesses to shut down since last week. So I am currently a refugee, and my dear friend Cathal from Pineapple Xpressed has been taking care of me since the event. I love you Cathal!
  • I'm unfortunately super busy with college work. I know we all have work, but this is the main reason why I haven't been posting here.
Ok, now the good news:
  • My final med ball was on last Friday. It was super fun. There were dresses.....some great, some good, some bad, some ugly. That's reality. I wore my flowy sheer black dress with flowery details purchased from La Vie en Rose at the Sunday Upmarket in Bricklane. Unfortunately there is no photographic evidence of the full outfit.
**EDIT** here's a photo!

On the far right, I'm wearing sheer dress from Le Vie en Rose, dress worn underneath from H&M, tights from Primark (Penneys), shoes from Miu Miu
  • I'll be heading to London for a day next Saturday, followed by 2 weeks in NYC! Thinking about this trip is what's keeping me going with work. Oh, there will be some nice buys. I will see my fellow SOSer Fi for a day, yipee!
  • I've been naughty doing some online shopping. I don't know if this falls in the good news category.
  • Despite my absence, I've been up to date with all of you fellow bloggers! So don't you worry, I'm still a regular reader.

I'll have my dress Rare..

I have been veggie for a few months now. So no more rare steak for me. But I do like Rare dresses. I attended the press day last week with Reena, Ozzy and Kristabel for some Fashion blogger frolicks.
Let's talk dresses first.
I will admit, I was sceptical first of Rare dresses, after the collaboration with The Saturdays. I did enjoy seeing the band live, but I wouldn't exactly go out in one of their dresses. However, I went in with an open mind and clean nails. This press day did not disappoint. The gang from ThinkPublicity were very welcoming, handed me a cocktail of my choice and were very friendly.
What I liked about the collection was...
The use of lace panelling...

Not only did I enjoy the collection, I got to get my nails done, courtesy of London Nails. Check out mine and Christabel's nails..I left merrier, with a goody bag in my freshly painted nails and ready to chitchat with the world. UPDATE: Me being the klutz that I am, have already chipped my nails.

Let me tell you about my window

Well you guys, my technology jinx continues to plague me wherever I go. My housemates have been in London for almost two whole months and we are STILL WAITING for broadband.
But c'est la vie.
But I'm making my americano last while I use wifi in a famous coffee establishment and will blog until the last dregs of cold coffee is taken out of my hands.
Let me tell you some news.
-I have not bought one thing in London yet, due to the terribly cruel thing that is paying rent/council tax in Central London.
-I walk past this window in an office for some graffic designers on the appropriately named "Fashion Street" on my way to work every morning. It says a lot to me.

-I made some great new people from the blogosphere.
Bloggers at the Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year awards
In the picture is Sarah from Orfalseglitter. (And Mary, whose blog I never wrote down, so give it to me please). Not in the picture is Tom from YouMightLikeThis
Kristabel from IWantYouToKnow and I
Carrie from WishWishWish and I
Reena from FashionDreamer
Ozzy from WeScreamStyle
And some other "friends".Liz and I
Me and Caprice.
Katie, Soph (as we call her now) and I
I made all these "friends" at the Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year awards. Other new bezzies include Gok, Vic Reeves and Vanessa Feltz.

-SaveOurShoes will be having a competition soon, so keep your eyes peeled.
-I am currently listening to a lot of Waaves, Theoretical Girl, The Flaming Lips, Sonny and the Sunsets and The Girls at Dawn.
-The Sophie Calle exhibition in WhiteChapel Gallery is very good. Bit pretentious, but I enjoy hipsterrunoff as much as the next indie art student kid.
-I am really good at making plum cobbler.Enjoy your weekends kids, pack the umbrellas as the forecast is bad.
Peace, fi xx

My good friend Jackie (*no relation to Joan)

This post has been a long time coming. It has been on the back burner for a while (mainly as I have been waiting for a picture from a friend but it has yet to arrive... he knows what I am talking about). Anyway, during my fun-filled summer, I spent occasional stints in my hometown of Midleton, Co. Cork, Ireland. If you know me, you will know I am NOT a massive fan of this little town. I have been mildly homesick for homecomforts, like family and friends, here in London, but if I could move a group them to London, this niggling feeling would be gone.
Midleton and I.. We don't really have anything in common. Except for Jackie Browne's Vintage Homeware and my awesome family.
Jackie is an absolute Legend. Hailing from Whitechapel (my new haunt) she tells incredible stories. But that is not the point of this post. The point is, if some day you drive through Midleton, stop on the Main Street and check out her shop.

I found vintage Prada there. Odhran got an amazing blue velvet blazer there. I want to dress my house with her furniture. I spent afternoons working with Jackie (ie talking men, vintage clothes, men, London).

I know some of our readers may never get the opportunity to see this shop, but I had to share it. And if our Irish readers do pass through Midleton, go in, tell her Fiona recommended the shop to you.

Peace, fi xx
