Trend Shoes

Come in, take off your shoes, and clothes if you want.

Irregular spring

I'm sitting here on my desk. My book open on my lap, because I'm studying..apparently. But my eyes keep wandering to places they shouldn't. So my eyes and hands, not me, trotted along to the online shop of Irregular Choice.

Oh, shoes. You have such a strong effect on me. For some reason though, I find that my irregular choice shoes here are not being worn much. Life is unfair that way, but I should make more effort into wearing. Does that happen to you too? Do you find yourself wearing the same pairs of shoes/clothing items, and neglecting the rest? I'm telling you, it's unfair. We should treat all of our shoes/clothes equally.

Since spring is supposed to be just around the corner (even though it's February and freezing), I picked these items from Irregular Choice as the most springy representatives (which means, flowers and floral prints).

I personally love the felts flower cutouts and beadwork on two of these pairs. I also love the added pompoms, and ditsy liberty print on two of the other pairs. The floral sneakers I've been eyeing for a while, and have tried on in the shop as well, but I felt they were a bit...flimsy feeling? or too plastic? But here I am oggling at them again. The other pair I like is the one with the ombre glass heel, which reminds me of the first Irregular Choice shoes I bought 6 years ago.. The blue swan ones with the glass heels. I should dig them out and wear them.

Sheer VS Leather

I've been pretty obsessed with anything and everything sheer for a pretty long time now. There is one sheer item missing from my wardrobe, and that is sheer pants. I've come across a few recently, such as the Sonia Rykiel from H&M chiffon pyjama pants, but those didn't fit me well. Then there were a pair or two on ASOS, but I repeat.. I'm on a money saving mission.

It came to no surprise that I went a bit ga-ga when I first came across Graeme Armour's work. Armour is a Central Saint Martin Graduate from Scotland, who trained with Alexander McQueen, and who was approached by Ungaro and Lagerfeld. Lucky him.

I fell in love with his S/S 10 collection, in which the designer collaborated with textile designer Johanna Basford, to create a collection filled with sheer, leather, foil metallics, and lots of ruffles.
I'm going to be greedy and say that I'd like to own his whole collection. It's 80's with a hint of Spanish flamenco. Genius.

These are my favorite pieces..

Drenched in velvet..

Have I mentioned my love for velvet before? Well, I do. I do love velvet. Unfortunately, with spring coming nearer, it'll be hard to wear such a rich wintery fabric. This is why I took the opportunity today to wear my H&M velvet dungarees out and about in town. The weather was sunny and beautiful, but still a bit chilly.. So I teamed up the velvet with some floral print. Both the dungarees..overalls..whatever you want to call them, and the floral puffy sleeved shirt are from H&M.

I'm also loving overalls at the moment. I'm waiting for the floral print ones to come out at ASOS and Topshop. But having said that, I also wouldn't mind hunting for a pair of vintage ones either. If I were living someplace where vintage shops are readily available, this wouldn't be a problem. I'll have to wait and see I guess.

Florals overload..

It's a sunny Sunday morning. It's sunny in January, which is quite surprising yet delightful. February is on the verge and spring is on its' way, which means there's even larger room for flowers and floral prints.

Floral prints are on my mind. And floral prints are surrounding me in every shop I walk past and every online store I visit. As part of my "saving money" plan, I thought I'd dig out florals from my closet before I start going crazy on spending.

Going off topic a bit, I'd like to share that I absolutely love the "save for later" option on ASOS. The clothes are saved in your account for a month so you can view them easily, and at the same time you have plenty of time to think about whether or not you should or should not buy the items. Unfortunately, there are always items in my "saved items" basket. But I think this helps with the money saving.

Now, back to florals.

I decided to play around with some of the floral prints I own, and this is my little outfit post for you.

Flower pots in my head..

It feels a bit odd writing here again, since I've been away from blog writing (well, not really proper writing, more like chatting) for about 3 months or so. If anyone's wondering about this absence, it's because I've been busy caught up with studying, travelling, etc etc etc. But don't you worry fellow bloggers, I still read your blogs!

Moving on.. I know I know floral prints and lace are "in" at the moment. However, I've always loved a well designed floral print, or items with handmade flowers stuck on (for a bit of a 3D effect). My partner in crime Fiona, however, loves it more. And I can't begin to describe the number of floral tea dresses she owns. Let alone the other tops, jumpsuits, etc etc.

It seems that the high street is now bombarded with floral prints. Everywhere I turn, I see stacks of ditsy floral print dresses, tops, tights, leggings, jeans! MY GOD!!! Seeing stacks of reproduced clothes usually puts me off, and makes me not want to buy anything from the shop. But for some reason my mind is niggling with the thought "florals....florals....florals.....".

I came across the new Primark (Penneys) S/S lookbook. And guess what? More lace and florals coming up! I have to say I do have a few items in mind that I'd like to purchase such as the floral shorts, the black lace shorts and the floral boyfriend jacket. I visited the shop yesterday and none of these items are out yet. Most will be out from Feb-March, and prices range from 1 pound - 25 pounds. The floral shorts are 4 pounds, which is just as much as buying a venti drink from Starbucks. Think of it that way.

I do wonder about the quality and material of the items. I also do wonder about whether or not I'll be "put off" when I see people fist fighting and throwing these items around in the shop when the items are out. Four pounds shorts however......I doubt I'll be put off.

Music to watch girls (in well made clothing) go by.

Hi there. How are things?
I'm going to do one of those bullet pointed yokes to inform you of things.
-I (as in Fi) have a new job. Some may say a "proper" job. But I will remain as LooLaa as ever. But I shall have an income now, no more hand to mouth (or wardrobe) living.
-SaveOurShoes has been taken over by David Bowie and Batman.
-After a long search, I have found myself a black knitted snood.
-Y'all should check outthe band, The Villagers.
-I may have walked past Henry Holland on Old Street, how exciting!
-This past weekend, I have eaten my weight in cakes. And snack foods. NOT GOOD.
-Things over the next few weeks are going to be hectic. I shall be up the walls (ie rather busy).
-Waiting to hear back about LFW, fingers crossed we get tickets at SOS!

Peace,
Fi xx

what can i get for ten dolla'

According to MIA, you can get "anything u want" for ten dolla.
Well, I don't have ten dollars. I have a two dollar bill, which I keep for sentimental reasons, a dollar bill currently serving as a bookmark and three singles in case for some strange reason I end up in NY again soon (wishful thinking).
BUT for two pounds you can get a small coffee here. Or a croissant in an reasonable priced coffee shop. Or a pair of knickers on sale in Primark.
I spent my 2 squids on something else though. A black leather jacket (BARGAIN.. Kerching!). LJ got herself an awesome black leather bomber jacket number which I was seriously lusting after.
LJ modelling her jacket (and some nougat) on the 242 bus
While having a nose around Sunday upmarket, I had a rummage in my favourite cheap vintage stall. And everything (like everything) was two pounds. I found the jacket. It is rather massive, and I have been told I resemble a cross between Miley from Glenroe and an cast member of early episodes of the Bill. Oh well.Peace y'all!

Tube-goers beware of my potential tracksuit...

This is a bit of old news. But have you seen Ashish for Topshop collaboration?

Outfit posts coming, as I have serious intentions of buying these babies.

Biznitches beware. I shall be wearing these studded beauties on the tube.
Peace (unless you try steal my seat on the central line, in which case....)
